2009-01-24 [Xuan.]: well thank you very much! :]
It was something simple, but I tried my best. I don't think that the lion dance will be coming through until February here because they have to head to the capital to make money first.
But i will definately post a wiki and a link to it, so you can all see.
2009-01-24 [Artsieladie]: *smiles* Often simple is the best and the nicest. Extravagance is not always what it's cracked up to be IMO. I look forward to your wiki. I would still like to see a contest with Eastern Dragons, too. :)
2009-01-28 [Xuan.]: I had another idea, my brother bought back tons of money packets from the lion dances in atlanta and i was going to take pictures, but i forgot. he won't be back until tomorrow. he has pictures, i am going to have him give them to me to show all of you. Next year i will get to do the symbols! everyone made 600$ this year from performing.
2009-01-28 [Xuan.]: does this mean i get to win?
2009-01-28 [Linderel]: Unless someone submits before ET midnight today... yeah, you're winning by default.
2009-01-28 [Artsieladie]: I just came from the Chinese New Year, Helsinki 2009, by [hannes] wiki-page. The wiki caught my eye on Mainstreet under "Latest public wiki-pages:". There's some great photos there. :)
2009-01-28 [Xuan.]: bahahaha. BY default. i love it. my picture sucks. lol
2009-01-28 [Xuan.]: i looked at that wiki... it kind of gives you the wrong impression. That is just a performance that they put on. They also put on those kind of performances through out the year, so it's not that special. What we need pictures of his the actual celebration and lion dance on the streets, through the markets, and the restaurants.
2009-01-28 [Artsieladie]: I kinda' thought you would have an opinion about the photos (which I wanted to hear) and this is part of the reason why I mentioned it here. I agree. A real celebration (anything) will always trump a substitute I think. ;)
2009-01-28 [Linderel]: I think winning by default is boring. Lacks any real reward <_<
2009-01-28 [Xuan.]: hey your just jealous. bahahaha.
:]
atleast i tried :[
2009-01-28 [Linderel]: Yes, at least you tried! :D
2009-02-03 [*micky*]: I went to chinse newyear on January 31th...Lolz so I was to late after all xD
2009-02-03 [Xuan.]: Micky, you weren't too late at all, the deadline was quite Asian-blind if you ask me. If they knew what they were throwing a contest for they'd realize that the new year is celebrated for a couple of weeks :]
2009-02-03 [Linderel]: Better next year? xD
I'm using the fact that this was an entirely new contest as an excuse. Though it's not really a good one. *sigh* Well... I promise that next time around, we'll set a more reasonable deadline. :) Or perhaps we can still wiggle in another week or so here.
2009-02-03 [Artsieladie]: I've been pretending to not notice the date, hoping for more entries. lol ;) [Linderel], I think your reasoning is perfectly legitimate. It IS the first time out for this contest theme, and since we weren't raised in this culture, it is a learning experience. This is why those that have knowledge should come forth with it and share it, so that all may benefit. I have no problem with extending the deadline. :)
2009-02-03 [Artsieladie]: *grins*
2009-02-03 [Artsieladie]: Yeah, I think so. I wouldn't mind giving it another month this round. Next year, we can start it much earlier, hopefully. ;)
2009-02-04 [Xuan.]: lol. Extend the date :] I will probably lose, but it's okay :] who knows maybe my brother will get other the lion and let me take pictures of it lol.
2009-02-06 [Artsieladie]: Deadline extended: 2009-2-28 :D
